JDPC Awka Empowers Over 80 Women with Business Support

The Justice, Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) Awka has once again demonstrated its commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups and fostering sustainable development through a remarkable empowerment program targeted at women. In a recent initiative, over 80 women received cash gifts aimed at boosting their small and medium-scale businesses, thereby strengthening their economic independence and improving household livelihoods.

The program, which was held in St. Patrick Cathedral Awka, Anambra State, provided a platform for women from different communities to share their experiences and aspirations. Many of the beneficiaries are small-scale traders and artisans struggling with limited resources to grow their businesses. The financial support extended by JDPC Awka is expected to help them expand their ventures, restock goods, improve services, and create a more stable income base for their families.

Rev. Fr. Levi Ukor executive director JDPC Awka emphasized the importance of women in community development, noting that when women are empowered economically, the benefits extend to children, families, and the wider society. They stressed that women’s financial stability not only reduces poverty but also promotes peace, resilience, and sustainable growth.

Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to JDPC Awka for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will transform their businesses and give them renewed hope. Some shared plans to diversify their enterprises, while others pledged to reinvest the funds wisely to ensure long-term growth.

This initiative reflects JDPC Awka’s broader mission of promoting social justice, equity, and human dignity. By equipping women with resources to thrive economically, the organization is laying a foundation for stronger families and healthier communities. The empowerment of women remains a crucial step toward achieving inclusive development, and JDPC Awka continues to play a vital role in making this vision a reality.
