Justice, Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) Awka – Building a just and peaceful society through service, empowerment, and advocacy.
The Justice, Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) was established by the Conference of Catholic Bishops in response to the Second Vatican Council’s call for the Church to play an active role in building a just and peaceful world. Inspired by Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Populorum Progressio, the Commission was created to awaken the faithful to their mission on earth and promote social justice and development for poorer communities.
JDPC Awka, serving as the social arm of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, was founded to bring this mission to the local context of Anambra State.
It was registered as a non-profit organization under the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, formalizing its public presence.
JDPC Awka was officially incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as Justice Development and Peace Caritas – JDPC Awka, establishing its legal status.
