Successful Training Workshop Marks the Formation of JDPC in Parishes, Deaneries, and Regions of Awka Diocese
Members of Justice, Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC Awka) gathered at the Awka Diocese Secretariat hall. This historic event witnessed a full house, signifying the enthusiasm and commitment of the participants. The proceedings commenced with an opening prayer and a captivating keynote address delivered by the Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Levi Ndubisi Ukor. In his address, he shed light on the paramount importance of JDPC within the Church and outlined the core programs it embodies. The atmosphere brimmed with anticipation as Mr. Joseph Uzoma Nkamuke, the facilitator and a renowned Research and Development Specialist (CCFN), took the stage.
Mr. Nkamuke’s training commenced with a comprehensive exploration of the Genesis and establishment of JDPC within the Church. He enlightened the attendees about the fundamental principles and historical evolution of JDPC, providing a solid foundation for their understanding. Moreover, he delved into the profound significance of comprehending fundamental human rights and the corresponding responsibilities that accompany them. The participants were captivated by Mr. Nkamuke’s insights, which left an indelible impression and underscored the necessity of establishing JDPC in their respective parishes.
During the workshop, the facilitator shed light on the prevailing challenges faced by the Church. Through thought-provoking discussions, participants gained a heightened awareness of these overarching issues, reinforcing the urgency of establishing JDPC units in their parishes, deaneries, and regions.
Integral to the training was a comprehensive exploration of JDPC’s core programs and initiatives. Participants were afforded a deeper understanding of the organization’s pivotal role in promoting social justice, advocating for human rights, fostering sustainable development, and facilitating peacebuilding efforts. The participants left the workshop feeling inspired and invigorated, equipped with the knowledge and motivation to contribute actively to their communities.
The resounding success of the training/workshop on the formation of JDPC in parishes, deaneries, and regions of the Awka Diocese left an indelible mark on the participants. Their newfound determination ensures that JDPC will become an integral part of the Church’s mission, spearheading transformative actions and playing a pivotal role in the pursuit of justice, development, and peace within society.
JDPC Awka as a non-governmental organization has its activities cover the geographical areas of the Catholic Diocese Awka, which comprises parishes/chaplaincies, 13 Deaneries, 3 Regions and also covers 4 local government areas in Anambra State (Awka North,Awka South, Dunukofia, Aniocha and Njikoka). We also network with NGOs and development organizations with similar focus and ideology.
